A Christmas Open Studio 28 to 30 November 2014
The Hereford Art week last September was a great success, this event gave me the opportunity to reach art collectors, people passionate about art and as well as meeting other artists.
H Art artists are opening their doors again to the public calling it a H Art Christmas.
Why not give a piece of art as a present for Christmas instead of socks and scarves?
The Studio will be open the last week-end of November Friday 28th to Sunday 30th from 11 m to 4 pm.
H Art Map venue #14 - 42 Abbey Road, Great Malvern WR14 3HD opening hours: 11 am to 4 pm
.... continued on the abstract and the figure
and here is the finished piece. It is a figurative piece within an abstract. I have enjoyed making it I hope you like it too. I do not want to comment on what it means to me and will try not to give a title as I want the viewers to experience the feelings or the moods that the painting evoke in them.
On the abstract and the figure
A work in progress, showing close ups detail of a figurative abstract painting. Keep reading as next blog will reveal the whole picture. Thank you.
Digital Artwork
I have been experimenting and getting accustomed to my I Pad Art Rage software and whilst on holiday I sketched and worked on these pieces. I think they invoke reflection from the viewer as their personal feeling can give life to these images. I will be printing these work available at my Open Studio week in September (6th to 14th).
Paint and mark making for a new painting
Starting a new piece of work is always daunting at the beginning ..... making marks and painting freely opens the mind and creativity develops.. here is "before and after" photo .
Yesterday sketch life drawing with the model
Yes, this is not Venus. This body doesn't compete with today mass media image of a woman's body. The body/shell doesn't reflect who we are, how we feel, but yet we are ready to form an opinion of who we think she could be. What do I see? There is peace, there is humility, there is compassion. Acceptance of what we have become.

A new painting
In a society where the outside look is "important", beautiful bodies, are just shells, the inner scars, the hurt souls cannot hide behind a shell, the signs exist, we show them inevitably, we live with it: our acceptance of our human imperfection.
How the abstract talked to me.....
This film shows how an abstract mono print made earlier with a gelatine plate, "spoke" to me and it developed into the piece you see below....
Work in progress
The journey to abstracting the figure is on and here are my latest w.i.p.
Towards abstraction of the figure
I have embarked on a long journey: abstracting the figure. I love the human forms and the poses give me ground to dig into my soul. I am painting with scratches and scribbles which represent the scars we all carry on our bodies as well as the emotional scars in our hearts. The figures are surreal: they are my feelings, my thoughts. The painting below is part of this journey.
working between an oil and a mix media
Work in progress.... left oil portrait of my beautiful friend Paige and below one of my figurative inspirations in mix media.
Using IPad for life drawing sketch
Every week I take life drawing at the Malvern School of Art, sometimes I use my iPad for sketching, it is still a learning curve for me, as I have not had any training. I am having a great time experimenting and discovering all the tools this software has to offer. Below is an image from my iPad sketch book .
