Beginning a new piece of work......
The moment you face a blank canvas or paper, that perfect surface can be intimidating. It is a powerful moment, you know once you start everything changes. The creative process starts, experimentation expands the endless possibilities......

Framing and preparing for the Oxford art fair
Organisation is the key for success to exhibit to art fairs. After last year art fair in London Chelsea Town Hall I am looking forward to the Oxford Art Fair at the end of this month. My new body of artwork that I will be exhibiting is based on abstraction, there will be figures, portraits and landscapes. I am excited to spend the week end in Oxford and hope to meet friends, visitors and art collectors.

I am taking part in the Salon des Refusés 2015 Exhibition
Happenstance Art & Framing Gallery in association with London Art Eventsbrings you Salon des Refusés 2015, the annual exhibition of artwork 'refusés' from the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Inspired by the 1870s Paris Salon that championed Impressionists such as Monet, Degas and Manet after their rejection from their national academy this exhibition is, for the fourth year, promoting the artists and genres of the future.
This year Salon des Refusés will take place at the original creative pioneer of the Hackney art scene - [Space] Gallery. SPACE is a gallery steeped in its own history. It was founded by artists Bridget Riley, who actually rejected the Royal Academy and whose Optical Art genre initially suffered the same rejection as Impressionism - Peter Sedgley and Peter Townsend in 1968, at the height of the global creative peak that was the 1960s.
SPACE has lots of it (!) so we are expecting even more RA Refusés than in previous years. We have also invited Street Artists who want to exhibit their work in a gallery to participate in a special Salon d' Art Urbain - this will be the only exhibition to have street/urban art and 'fine' art hanging side by side.
As usual there will be Public Voting to find the people's favourite art work at the Salon, with a prize worth £300 for 1st place donated by Happenstance Framing in association with London Art Events. There will also be a program of Sound Art events curated by Sonica Found Music™ / Sonica FM running for 3 days in the wonderful [Space] Gallery annex.
All in all, it's going to be a truly awesome show that brings art back to the people where it belongs!
